Photographs

19036381 Pte./Dmr. Frederick Wilfred Wragg

A collection of photographs and memorabilia dedicated to the army service of Frederick Wilfred Wragg, who passed away in January 2007.

He enlisted as a regular with the Lincolnshire Regiment in November 1946 at Sobraon Barracks, Lincoln and went on to serve (firstly with 2nd Battalion and latterly with 1st Battalion following amalgamation/redesignation) in Palestine, Trans-Jordan and Egypt. He became a drummer in the Regimental Corps of Drums and also boxed for the regiment, becoming the Army (Egypt) Bantam weight champion in February 1950.

For reasons he couldn't quite remember, he transferred to the Royal Warwickshire Regiment in January 1951 and served out his remaining time until discharge as part of the British Troops in Austria, stationed in Graz. Once again he served as a drummer in the Regimental Corps of Drums amd boxed for the regiment's boxing team.

He eventually left the army in October 1952, although remained with the reserves until November 1958.

Notes:
1. Some of the captions on these pictures are a little sketchy. If you can help clarify any of these please do contact us.
2. Kevin Wragg is keen to hear from anyone who remembers his father from his service years, if you'd like to contact Kevin please do so via the Webmaster or one of the Branch Officers.
