In July 2008, we were delighted to grant Miss Patricia A Smith M.B.E. permission to use our information about the Hohenzollern Redoubt Memorial in a new book, published on 24th October 2008. The book, "The Crosby Angel: A Community's War Memorial", has now been officially unveiled after eight years of dedicated research and work by The Friends of the Crosby Angel. The book details the lives and times of the 59 men whose names are inscribed on a World War 1 Memorial. This Memorial is situated in the playground of Crosby Primary School, Frodingham Road, Scunthorpe (opened on 1st June 1908). Several of these men were killed at the Hohenzollern Redoubt on or after 13th October 1915. Profits from the sale of this book will be donated to have the Memorial restored.
The book about the Crosby Angel, and the men whose names are engraved upon it, was a community project and can be purchased. All profits going towards the upkeep of this monument. Details can be found on the Books and Publications page.
