Enquiries Relating to the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment

Enquirers asking for information about specific soldiers who served in the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment / Lincolnshire Yeomanry

We do not hold any personal service records therefore we cannot give enquirers any information relating to soldiers service in the regiment/Yeomanry. Enquirers can obtain service records as follows:

  • For Officers or Soldiers whose regular or reserve service ended before 1921 - The National Archives
  • Officers or Soldiers whose regular or reserve service ended between 1921 and 1997 - Army Personnel Centre

If the person served during the First World War, The National Archives website www.nationalarchives.gov.uk enables access to medal cards, which should give details of the medals awarded, the regiment or other unit/corps and the service number. The website also has the online catalogue of records.

Enquirers requesting information about the regiment’s activities on a given day or during a given period of time.  If they specifically ask for ‘War Diaries’ see next section

Information relating to the regiments activities is in ‘The Poachers’, ‘The History of the Lincolnshire Regiment’ or John Benson’s books which are available in MLL’s shop or in Lincolnshire’s Libraries.

Enquirers asking for information contained in the   Regimental Archives e.g. War Diaries, Photographs, diaries etc

The regiment’s archive collection is now stored at Lincolnshire Archives. This includes the War Diaries, photograph albums, newspaper cuttings, personal reports/diaries, letters and regimental history books. The material is currently undergoing cataloguing but some items are now available through the search room. Please refer enquirer to Adrian Wilkinson at Lincolnshire Archives.  The archives also have leaflets about WW1 & WW2 source material.
